Pathology Results
It's cancer. Grade 1 mast cell tumor with no clean margins (there are still cancerous cells left behind).
Oh no! I am so sorry....it is so hard loving a Berner. Too much cancer with them.
Can anything be done??? When I was worried that my Loki had a MCT on his snout (we were lucky it is a histiocytoma), I thought I read that chemo was quite effective with Stage 1.
Ms. Kim, We are so sorry to hear about your Maggie's MCT. We have lost two of our Golden brothers, Chance and Gordon, to MCTs and Homer had one removed and he seems to be doing OK for over a year now. We know that no matter what happens that you'll be takinh good care of Maggie and maybe spoiling her more than usual. We will be howling to the big DOG tonight for Maggie to be better. You'll do whatever is best for Maggie. You love her and she loves you - Homer J., Jubal, J.E.B., Sophie, Shelby Belle, Jack, Abby, Max, Shiloh, Alex, Boru and Jenny = The Bumpass Hounds and Kittess at: http://bumpasshounds.blogspot.com/2008/03/chance-rainbow-bridge.html
